BALTIMORE, July 10 (UPI) -- Daniel Cabrera did not allow anyone to reach second base in seven scoreless innings Saturday as the Baltimore Orioles defeated Kansas City, 7-2.
Filling in for injured Sidney Ponson, Cabrera (6-3) allowed three singles and a walk while striking out five. The 23-year-old righthander is 3-0 with one save in his last five appearances, yielding just four runs over 30 2/3 innings.
B.J. Ryan worked a perfect eighth, but the Royals finally got on the board in the ninth against Jorge Julio as Tony Graffanino had a sacrifice fly and Mike Sweeney homered.
Rafael Palmeiro hit a two-run shot and Miguel Tejada had a two-run double for Baltimore, which snapped a three-game losing streak.
Starter Mike Wood (1-2) surrendered five runs and seven hits in 4 2/3 innings as Kansas City lost for the 14th time in 16 games.
