WASHINGTON, July 3 (UPI) -- Alecko Eskandarian scored twice and the D.C. United matched a club record for goals Saturday en route to a 6-2 victory over the MetroStars.

Jaime Moreno added a goal and two assists for D.C. United (5-5-5), which also scored six goals on July 7, 1996 against Dallas.

Eskandarian tallied his first goal in the 41st minute, helping D.C. United build a 3-1 halftime lead. He scored again in the 63rd minute.

Eddie Gaven and Fabian Taylor scored for the MetroStars (5-6-4).
