MLB: Chicago Cubs 5, Houston 4

The Cubs completed a four-game series sweep.

Alou did what Houston could not in the series -- produce in the clutch. The former Astro blooped a two-out single in the seventh that landed among three players in shallow right-center and scored Corey Patterson to break a 2-2 tie.

Derrek Lee, who also had three hits, followed with an RBI single to make it 4-2.

Alou produced a key insurance run in the ninth when he again singled in Patterson, who led off with a triple.

The Astros were just five for 30 with runners in scoring position in the series before Jason Lane slugged a two-run homer off closer LaTroy Hawkins in the bottom of the ninth.

But Hawkins retired pinch-hitter Orlando Palmeiro on a groundout to record his eighth save.
