Women's top seeds lose in Ordina Open

'S-HERTOGENBOSCH, Netherlands, June 16 (UPI) -- Nadia Petrova and Patty Schnyder, the two top seeds, were eliminated Wednesday in the second round of the Ordina Open in the Netherlands.

Jelena Jankovic of Serbia-Montenegro beat the top-seeded Petrova, of Russia, 6-4, 6-3, and Spain's Anabel Medina Garrigues defeated Schnyder, of Switzerland, 6-2, 6-4.

France's Mary Pierce, the No. 3 seed, advanced with a 6-7 (3-7), 6-4, 6-2 win over Russia's Maria Kirilinko and No. 8 Lina Krasnoroutskaya of Russia ousted Denisa Chaladkova of the Czech Republic 6-3, 6-4.

Other winners included men's No. 4 seed Tommy Robredo of Spain with a 7-5, 1-6, 7-5 victory over Guillermo Canas of Argentina.
