MLB: Chicago Cubs 4, Houston 1

HOUSTON, June 16 (UPI) -- Greg Maddux tossed 6 1/3 innings and Corey Patterson's bunt single keyed a seventh-inning rally Wednesday night as the Chicago Cubs downed Houston, 4-1.

It was the Cubs' fifth straight win. They are 5-1 on their seven-game road trip and won for the ninth time in their last 12 games overall.

Maddux (6-5) kept the momentum going with career victory No. 295. He allowed a run and eight hits, did not walk a batter and struck out five.

After Francis Beltran got an out in the seventh, Mike Remlinger logged 1 1/3 hitless innings. LaTroy Hawkins struck out one in a perfect ninth for his seventh save in 10 opportunities.

Patterson started the seventh-inning rally with a bunt base hit. Paul Bako knotted the contest, 1-1, with a double to right and Todd Walker gave Chicago the lead for good with a sacrifice fly later in the inning.

Todd Hollandsworth had an RBI triple in the eighth and scored on Derrek Lee's sacrifice fly.
