The win was the 11th for the Marlins in their last 13 meetings with the Mets, dating to last June 26. Florida has won five of the six meetings this season.

Mike Stanton and David Weathers provided little relief for the Mets, who lost their second straight after a four-game winning streak.

Pinch-hitter Damion Easley hit a game-tying three-run homer off Stanton in the seventh inning and Alex Gonzalez delivered the go-ahead RBI single in the eighth off Weathers (5-2) as the Marlins rallied from a 5-2 deficit.

Mike Lowell added an RBI double in the ninth. Benitezo entered with 13 consecutive hitless innings, but Piazza drove his first pitch over the right field wall.
