MLB: Minnesota 9, Toronto 5

TORONTO, May 17 (UPI) -- Jacque Jones hit a two-run homer to snap a ninth-inning tie Monday night as Minnesota defeated Toronto, 9-5, for its sixth win in seven games.

Minnesota had a 5-2 lead behind two-run homers from rookie Lew Ford and Torii Hunter off Toronto starter Ted Lilly. But the Blue Jays rallied for three runs in the seventh against Brad Radke and reliever J.C. Romero.

With former Twin Micheal Nakamura (0-2) on the mound, Hunter led off the ninth with a double and Jones followed with his seventh homer of the season.

Michael Cuddyer scored on an error by catcher Kevin Cash and Cristian Guzman singled in another run to make it 9-5.

Juan Rincon (6-2) struck out five in 1 2/3 innings for the win.

Toronto's Frank Menechino, acquired from Oakland on Wednesday, had three hits, two RBI and scored twice.
