MLB: Boston 9, Toronto 3

TORONTO, May 14 (UPI) -- Brian Daubach, Kevin Millar and Cesar Crespo all had key hits in a six-run eighth Friday night as Boston ran away from Toronto, 9-3.

Kerry Ligtenberg (1-1) entered the contest as one of the Blue Jays' most effective relievers and had not allowed more than one earned run in any of his previous 14 appearances.

The veteran was called on to start the eighth with the game tied at 3-3.

But Ligtenberg failed to retire a batter and allowed five runs and four hits while also hitting a batter and throwing a wild pitch.

Daubach had the go-ahead RBI double to drive in Manny Ramirez, who led off with an infield single. Millar delivered a run-scoring single, Ligtenberg uncorked a wild pitch to allow a run to score and Crespo's RBI double provided a 7-3 lead.
