MLB: Detroit 10, Anaheim 2

DETROIT, April 28 (UPI) -- Five players had multi-hit games Wednesday night as Detroit used a 14-hit attack to batter Bartolo Colon and the Anaheim Angels, 10-2.

Ivan Rodriguez sat out the contest after bruising a finger on his right hand during Tuesday's game, but that did not stop Detroit from halting Anaheim's five-game winning streak.

The Tigers scored seven times off Colon (3-2) over the first three innings, including a two-run double by Bobby Higginson, that gave Detroit a 5-2 lead.

Colon worked just four innings, allowing seven runs and seven hits. He did strike out six.

Detroit starter Mike Maroth (3-1) pitched well with the lead. The lefthander, who led the major leagues in losses last year with 21, gave up just two runs and six hits in seven innings.

The 26-year-old Maroth did not win his third game last season until June 30th.
