NBA: Houston 102, LA Clippers 79

LOS ANGELES, April 8 (UPI) -- Cuttino Mobley and Jimmy Jackson scored 21 points apiece Wednesday night as Houston snapped a five-game skid, 102-79 over the Los Angeles Clippers.

The Clippers dropped their 12th straight.

Former Clipper Maurice Taylor chipped in 14 points and eight rebounds, Yao Ming added 12 and 10 and Steve Francis had 10 and 11 assists for the Rockets. They hold a two-game cushion over Denver, Utah and Portland (41-37) for seventh place in the Western Conference with four games remaining.

Jackson scored nine points and Mobley eight in the opening period as Houston opened a 27-15 lead. The Rockets extended their advantage to 57-36 at the half, holding the Clippers to 29 percent shooting during the first two quarters.
