ATLANTA, April 8 (UPI) -- Johnny Estrada drove in a career-high four runs and Marcus Giles collected four hits Thursday night as Atlanta outslugged the New York Mets, 10-8.
After dropping the season opener, Atlanta scored 28 runs in taking the final two games. The Braves downed the Mets Wednesday, 18-10.
Estrada contributed a two-run double in the fourth inning and capped a four-run sixth with a two-run single that gave Atlanta a 9-5 lead.
Scheduled to make his National League debut, New York's Scott Erickson was scratched after suffering a strained left hamstring 11 minutes into his warm-up session.
Dan Wheeler filled in and gave up three runs and six hits in four-plus innings. But David Weathers surrendered two runs in the fifth and the Braves reached 43-year-old John Franco (0-1) for four in the sixth.
John Smoltz served up a solo homer to Mike Cameron in the ninth but recorded his first save.
