Kobe out with injured hand

EL SEGUNDO, Calif., Jan. 30 (UPI) -- The Los Angeles Lakers placed superstar Kobe Bryant guard back on the injured list Friday with a laceration to the index finger on his right hand.

Bryant needed up to 10 stitches to close the wound, which the Lakers said happened when he accidentally put his hand through a glass window while trying to move some boxes in storage in his garage.

The Lakers said Bryant will be out at least a week and will not travel to Toronto or Indianapolis as a seven-game road trip that begins Monday.

He is expected to meet the team for a game in Cleveland on Thursday and will be evaluated at that time.

Bryant's latest injury comes after superstar center Shaquille O'Neal and forward Rick Fox returned from injuries in a 96-82 win over Seattle on Wednesday.

Los Angeles is still without forward Karl Malone, who suffered a sprained right knee ligament on Dec. 21.
