MELBOURNE, Jan. 23 (UPI) -- Lisa Raymond pulled off the biggest upset of the young tennis season Saturday, shocking Venus Williams in the third round of the Australian Open.

Second-seeded Kim Clijsters, meanwhile, moved into the fourth round with a 6-2, 6-1 decision over Dinara Safina.

On the men's side, No. 2 Roger Federer coasted past Todd Reid, 6-3, 6-0, 6-1.

The third-seeded Williams was returning to tournament action after a six-month absence and struggled in her second-round victory. She found herself in instant trouble Saturday when she lost her serve in the opening game of the match.

Raymond failed to convert on four set points before finally claiming the opening set and then won on her first match point when Williams netted a return.

Raymond will meet Tatiana Golovin in the fourth round.
