Australian Open: Roddick to play Ulihrach

MELBOURNE, Jan. 20 (UPI) -- Top seed Andy Roddick of the United States will play Bohdan Ulihrach of the Czech Republic Wednesday at the Australian Open in Melbourne.

The 21-year-old Roddick posted a hard-fought win over Chile's Fernando Gonzalez on Monday.

The women's world No. 1 Justin Henin-Hardenne faces French qualifier Camille Pin on Wednesday after crushing 15-year-old wild card Olivia Lukaszewicz, 6-0, 6-0, in 45 minutes in the first round.

The 21-year-old Belgian won the French Open and U.S. Open last year and opened this season with a title at Sydney.

Andre Agassi, 33, who has won 22 straight matches here -- an Australian Open record -- continues his title defense against Czech qualifier Tomas Berdych.

Venus Williams defeated fellow American Ashley Harkleroad 6-2, 6-1 Tuesday in the first round of the Australian Open.

Williams, who hadn't played in an official event in months because of injuries, twisted her right ankle in the match against Harkleroad but she said later, "I'm not anticipating that it will be so bad."

Kim Clijsters of Belgium,fighting off an injury, defeated Marlene Weingartner of Germany 6-3, 6-2.
