NBA: Detroit 105, Chicago 89

CHICAGO, Jan. 13 (UPI) -- Richard Hamilton scored 24 points and Ben Wallace controlled the boards Tuesday as Detroit extended its win streak to nine games, 105-89 over Chicago.

Hamilton set the tone in the opening quarter, scoring 10 points as the Pistons grabbed the lead for good in the first minute and opened a 28-17 advantage after one period. They led by as many as 20 points in the fourth quarter en route to their seventh straight win over Chicago.

Wallace had 10 of his 17 rebounds in the first quarter for the Pistons, whose winning streak is their longest since an 11-game tear Dec. 26, 1990-Jan. 17, 1991.

Rookie Kirk Hinrich scored 19 points for the Bulls on 7-of-10 shooting. Chicago lost for the sixth time in its last nine games.
