Clippers activate Rice, Polynice injured

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 10 (UPI) -- The Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday activated forward Glen Rice and placed center Olden Polynice on the injured list.

Rice, 36, was placed on the injured list on Dec. 1 with a bruised right knee. A 14-year NBA veteran who missed the first five games of the season while on the injured list with a hyperextended right knee, Rice has averaged just 2.0 points and 1.6 rebounds in 13.6 minutes in five games.

The 1997 All-Star Game MVP, Rice has career averages of 18.5 points and 4.4 rebounds.

The 38-year-old Polynice, who had not played in the NBA since the 2000-01 campaign with Utah, is going on the injured list with a strained neck for the second time this season. He missed the first 12 games of the year, then played nine minutes against Cleveland on Dec. 3, grabbing two rebounds but failing to score.
