NHL: New Jersey 3, San Jose 2 (OT)

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., Nov. 5 (UPI) -- Jamie Langenbrunner scored with 43 seconds left in overtime Wednesday night to give New Jersey its fourth straight win, 3-2 over San Jose.

John Madden set up the goal with a spinning backhand pass, hitting Langenbrunner perfectly for a one-timer that beat Evgeni Nabokov.

Nabokov was otherwise solid, making 29 saves for the Sharks, who have won just once in 10 games.

The Sharks, who trailed on two occasions, forced overtime when Scott Thornton netted his second goal of the season. With 11:50 left in the third period, Mike Ricci gloved Brian Rafalski's clearing attempt, skated around the New Jersey defenseman and slid a pass across the goalmouth to Thornton, who banged it past Martin Brodeur.
