Drury, a member of the Avalanche from 1998-2002, scored his first goal as a visitor at the Pepsi Center, picking up a loose puck just over the blue line and beating Philippe Sauve high to the short side with a snap shot.

J.P. Dumont added an empty-netter for the surprising Sabres, who finished a 4-2-0 road trip with their third straight win. They had not won three straight on the road since early in the 2001-02 season.

Martin Biron made 32 saves for Buffalo, which returns home Tuesday to face Minnesota.

Alex Tanguay scored for the Avalanche, who missed several opportunities and suffered their first loss in three games.

The Avalanche host Calgary on Tuesday, when they will retire the No. 33 worn by former goaltender Patrick Roy.
