NHL: Buffalo 4, Dallas 3

BUFFALO, N.Y., Oct. 13 (UPI) -- The Buffalo Sabres got goals from four different players and a superb save from Martin Biron en route to a 4-3 victory Monday over the Dallas Stars.

The Sabres went the first 124 minutes, 35 seconds of the season without a goal until Ales Kotalik scored 4:36 into the first period. Taylor Pyatt scored just 29 seconds later to make it 2-0.

Buffalo built a 4-1 advantage through two periods before Dallas scored twice in the third. Biron dived and gloved Bill Guerin's backhander at the right goalpost with 67 seconds to play, preserving the 4-3 lead.

Daniel Briere and Miroslav Satan scored for the Sabres, who dropped their first two games by a combined score of 8-0, including Saturday's 6-0 loss to the New York Islanders.

Former Sabres captain Stu Barnes scored his league-leading third goal for the Stars.
