METZ, France, Oct. 2 (UPI) -- Top seed Tommy Robredo cruised to a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Jean-Rene Lisnard Thursday to reach the quarterfinals of the Open de Moselle.
Idle since a first-round loss at the U.S. Open, the 21-year-old Robredo improved to 36-21 this year.
Robredo's quarterfinal opponent will be Andrei Pavel of Romania.
Third seed Fernando Gonzalez of Chile had a tougher contest against German Tomas Behrend before advancing with a 6-2, 6-7 (6-8), 7-6 (7-5) triumph. It's the eighth time this season Gonzalez has reached the quarterfinals.
Gonzalez will take on David Ferrer of Spain, who defeated Morocco's Hicham Arazi for the second time in as many meetings this year, 6-4, 5-7, 6-0.
No. 4 Arnaud Clement of France defeated Italy's Davide Sanguinetti, 7-5, 7-5.
