Chi. White Sox 11, Kansas City 2

KANSAS CITY, Mo., Sept. 26 (UPI) -- Carlos Lee and Frank Thomas homered Friday night as the Chicago set a franchise single-season home run record in an 11-2 rout Kansas City.

Lee's 31st homer of the season, a solo shot in the second inning, gave the White Sox 217, tying the team record set last season. Thomas broke the mark with his 42nd homer of the season leading off the third.

Jose Valentin added a grand slam in the eighth.

Jon Garland (12-13) snapped a three-start losing streak by allowing one run and three hits in eight innings with three walks and a strikeout. The righthander bounced back from a loss to the Royals last week in which he allowed seven runs in 2 2/3 innings.

Carlos Beltran provided the Royals' only offense with his 26th homer of the season, a long shot to right field in the fourth.
