Boston 7, Chi. White Sox 4

BOSTON, Sept. 12 (UPI) -- Boston drew 12 walks Friday night, including three with the bases loaded, and held on for a 7-4 victory over Chicago.

Boston fell two walks shy of matching its season high. The Red Sox used their patience at the plate to rally in the second inning and pull away in the fifth.

Chicago starter Danny Wright (1-6) walked David Ortiz and Kevin Millar to start the second before Bill Mueller singled to load the bases. Jason Varitek walked to force in the tying run and Gabe apler's single to drive in Millar.

Boston had a 5-3 lead when Chicago reliever Billy Koch walked three of the first four batters he faced in the fifth. He forced in a run with a walk to Gabe Kapler before giving way to Kelly Wunsch, who walked Johnny Damon to make it 7-3.
