MINNEAPOLIS, Sept. 7 (UPI) -- Torii Hunter's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 10th Sunday lifted Minnesota to its fifth straight victory, 5-4 over the Texas Rangers.

Minnesota remained tied with the Chicago White Sox atop the American League Central Division. The Twins and White Sox begin a four-game series Monday at Chicago.

Doug Mientkiewicz led off the bottom of the 10th inning with a walk off Rangers reliever Francisco Cordero (4-7) and Matthew LeCroy followed with a single.

Jacque Jones attempted to sacrifice and Texas third baseman Hank Blalock fired to shortstop Alex Rodriguez covering at third. Umpire Chuck Meriwether ruled Mienkiewicz safe and Rodriguez's throw across the diamond was too late to get the speedy Jones.

Hunter followed with a fly ball and Mientkiewicz beat right fielder Laynce Nix's throw to the plate.

Rick Reed (6-12) earned the victory by allowing one hit in two innings.
