Ahern, Zoeller share Tradition lead

ALOHA, Ore., Aug. 28 (UPI) -- Jim Ahern earned a share of the first-round lead with Fuzzy Zoeller Thursday by carding a 6-under-par 66 at The Tradition.

Ahern has had just two top-10 finishes in 17 major appearances on the Champions Tour. Four of those came after his victory at the Music City Championship in June.

Among Ahern's goals is to finish in the top 30 on the money list and qualify for the Champions Tour Championship. He was in position at the time of his win, but entered this week 35th.

Hale Irwin shared third place with Graham Marsh after carding a 67. Tom Watson, Tom Kite and Bruce Fleisher were among those at 68.
