PHOENIX, Aug. 26 (UPI) -- Alex Cintron and Robby Hammock hit key home runs Monday night as Arizona outslugged San Diego, 11-8.

With the win, the Diamondbacks pulled within 1 1/2 games of the National League wild card. The Diamondbacks are the closest team to Philadelphia and Florida, which are tied for the wild card lead. Cintron and Matt Kata had three hits apiece for Arizona.

Johnson (4-6) got his first win in three starts, but still did not look like the four-time defending Cy Young Award winner. In five innings, the big lefthander allowed four runs and eight hits, walked two, and struck out four.

The Diamondbacks scored in each of the first six innings to build an 11-4 lead.

San Diego starter Jake Peavy (9-10) was knocked out early, giving up six runs and six hits with four walks in two-plus innings. He gave up both of Arizona's home runs.
