NY Mets 2, Los Angeles 1

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 24 (UPI) -- Tom Glavine allowed two hits in seven innings Sunday to lead the New York Mets to their 13th win in 19 games, 2-1 over the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Glavine (9-11) retired the Dodgers in order in six of the innings. The lefthander had two strikeouts en route to his third straight win.

In the fifth inning, Glavine got two outs before Jolbert Cabrera broke up his bid for a perfect game with a double to right. Cesar Izturis then tripled home Cabrera.

Kevin Brown (12-7) allowed a pair of unearned runs and seven hits in eight innings.

Brown ran into trouble in the fourth. After Jay Bell reached with a single, Brown fielded a chopper by Jeff Duncan and threw it into right field. Bell scored and Duncan got to third when Shawn Green's throw home got away.

Marco Scutaro knocked in the only other run with a single.
