New York made sure it didn't matter by saddling Jose Lima (7-1) with his first loss in 10 starts for Kansas City. The righthander started his season playing for Newark of the independent Atlantic League.

Alfonso Soriano's two-run single in the second inning gave the Yankees a 2-1 lead. New York added four runs and five hits in the third off Lima, including a two-run shot by Posada -- his 22nd of the season.
