ATLANTA, Aug. 1 (UPI) -- Greg Maddux combined with four relievers on a four-hitter Friday night as Atlanta blanked the Los Angeles Dodgers, 2-0.

Los Angeles has scored just eight runs in its last eight games.

Maddux (10-8) recorded his 283rd career win, tying Jim Kaat for 27th on the all-time list. He yielded just two hits in five innings with two walks and four strikeouts.

John Smoltz tossed a scoreless ninth for his major league-leading 41st save.

The Dodgers were held to one run or fewer for the 20th time this season and were shut out for the ninth time.

The Braves got their runs on Andruw Jones' solo homer in the second inning and Robert Fick's RBI double in the fourth.
