Agassi, Roddick win again in Washington

WASHINGTON, Aug. 2 (UPI) -- Andre Agassi topped James Blake Friday night, 3-6, 5-7, 6-3, to avenged a semifinal loss last year at the Legg Mason Tennis Classic.

With the victory, Agassi kept alive his chances for a record sixth title at the $575,000 hardcourt event.

Blake recorded his first ATP Tour title at this event, beating Agassi in the semis on the way. On Friday, Agassi rallied and improved to 21-1 on hard courts this year.

"I don't have to have too good of a memory to remember that beating," Agassi said. "That was some of the best tennis I faced."

Agassi will take a 41-9 career mark in Washington into Saturday's semifinal against Fernando Gonzalez.

The other semifinal pits second-seeded Andy Roddick against No. 10 Tim Henman.

Roddick rolled past countryman Mardy Fish, 6-1, 6-4, to reach the semifinals for the fifth time in his last six tournaments. Henman improved to 5-1 lifetime against Paradorn Srichaphan with a 7-6 (7-5), 7-5 upset of the third seed.
