Montreal 8, Milwaukee 4

MONTREAL, Aug. 1 (UPI) -- Brad Wilkerson homered and drove in three runs Friday night to power Montreal to an 8-4 victory over Milwaukee.

After driving in just nine runs last month, Wilkerson got the Expos on the board in the second inning with an RBI double off Brewers starter Wayne Franklin (7-8).

Wilkerson's added a two-run homer in the fifth that stretched Montreal's lead to 6-0. It followed an RBI double by Vladimir Guerrero and was just his fourth home run since the end of June.

After the Expos took the lead, Eric Young almost tied it with a two-out single in the third, but Keith Osik was thrown out at the plate on a fine throw by center fielder Jose Macias. Catcher Brian Schneider caught the throw a bit high and behind the plate but got down the tag in time to get Osik.
