Bloomquist had not homered in his first 85 career at-bats and had just five RBI in 49 games this season.

The second-year infielder drove a 3-1 pitch from Jason Standridge (0-5) over the left-field wall to give the Mariners a 6-0 cushion.

Bloomquist added a two-run single in the fifth inning and scored a run in a three-run seventh as Seattle went into the All-Star break with an American League-leading record of 58-35.

Pineiro allowed just two runs and seven hits in seven innings. He struck out six and issued only one walk.
