Wooten erased a 3-2 deficit with his blast off Kansas City starter Jeremy Affeldt (5-5). It was his fifth homer of the season but just the third by an Angels' designated hitter since May 1.

Also, Anaheim got a big effort from its bullpen.

Francisco Rodriguez (5-1) relieved starter Kevin Appier and gave up two hits in the sixth. All-Star Brendan Donnelly allowed a hit in the eighth, lowering his ERA to 0.40, and Percival gave up two hits in the ninth, but notched his 20st save in 21 opportunities.

Appier surrendered three runs and six hits in five-plus innings.
