Jay Don Blake leads Milwaukee Open

MILWAUKEE, July 10 (UPI) -- Jay Don Blake, who has made only four cuts in 2003, shot a 6-under-par 64 Thursday to take a one-stroke lead after the first round of the Milwaukee Open.

Five of the last seven winners of the Milwaukee Open have been 40 or older, a trend the 44-year-old Blake would like to continue.

Kirk Triplett, who turned 41 in March, was alone in second with a 65.

Blake's lone PGA win came in the 1991 Shearson Lehman Brothers Open. He has missed the cut in his last three events and his best finish this season was a tie for 28th at the Capital Open.

Kenny Perry returned to action this week and shot a 69 at the Brown Deer Park Country club. Perry's last three starts have included wins at the Colonial and Memorial and a third at the U.S. Open.
