Sabres trade for Delmore

BUFFALO, N.Y., June 27 (UPI) -- The Buffalo Sabres acquired defenseman Andy Delmore from the Nashville Predators on Friday for a 2004 third-round draft pick.

Delmore led NHL defensemen with 14 power-play goals and shared the lead with 18 goals last season. Only 26, he has 34 goals since the start of the 2001-02 season.

Delmore began his NHL career with the Philadelphia Flyers in 1998-99 as an undrafted free agent before being traded to Nashville on July 31, 2001. He has 41 goals and 53 assists in four NHL seasons.

The trade came two days after the Predators re-signed defensemen Mark Eaton and Tomas Kloucek.
