ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., June 23 (UPI) -- Damian Rolls notched his first career multi-home run game Monday as Tampa Bay held on for a 4-2 triumph over Roger Clemens and the New York Yankees.
After putting the Devil Rays ahead with a three-run shot in the second inning, Rolls added a solo shot in the fifth for a 4-2 lead. His four RBI set a new career high.
Clemens (7-5) dropped his first decision in eight career starts against Tampa Bay. He allowed five hits and struck out six in
seven innings.
Alfonso Soriano reached the 20-20 plateau for the second time in his career with his sixth leadoff home run of the season. He stole his 20th base on Sunday in a 7-3 win over the New York Mets.
Devil Rays starter Victor Zambrano (4-4) enjoyed his second straight strong performance against the Yankees.
Lance Carter pitched a perfect ninth for his 12th save.
