NEW YORK, June 17 (UPI) -- David Wells had a seven-hitter and Ruben Sierra drove in three runs as the New York Yankees beat Tampa Bay, 10-2, in Tuesday's second game.
Jason Giambi and Derek Jeter eachadded two RBI for the first-place Yankees, who opened the day-night doubleheader with an 11-2 loss.
The Devil Rays totaled a franchise-record for a nine-inning game with 18 hits in the matinee but were sloppy in the nightcap, committing three errors.
Tampa Bay never has swept a doubleheader. The Yankees haven't
been swept under Manager Joe Torre since April 1996, his first year with the team.
Wells (9-2) allowed one earned run while recording his third complete game of the year.
The 40-year-old lefthander also improved to 7-1 lifetime against Tampa Bay.
Rookie Dewon Brazelton (1-6) lost his first career start at Yankee Stadium, allowing six runs over 4 2/3 innings.
