Philadelphia 8, Oakland 3 (2nd game)

PHILADELPHIA, June 8 (UPI) -- Jim Thome hit a two-run homer and Bobby Abreu added a solo shot as Philadelphia completed a doubleheader sweep of Oakland with an 8-3 victory.

It marked the second straight Sunday that the Phillies swept a doubleheader at Veterans Stadium. They took two games from Montreal last Sunday.

After the Phillies rolled to a 7-1 win in the opener, Thome got them off to a good start with his homer in the bottom of the first. Tomas Perez added a two-run double in the inning for a 4-1 lead.

Phillies starter Randy Wolf (7-3) took advantage of the early support. The lefthander surrendered three runs and four hits over seven innings, walking five and striking out seven.

Making his first start of the season, Aaron Harang (0-1) was roughed up for five runs and four hits in three innings.
