Cleveland 7, Philadelphia 1

WINTER HAVEN, Fla., March 8 (UPI) -- Omar Vizquel and Benjamin Broussard each hit two-run homers in the first inning Saturday to start the Cleveland Indians on their way to a 7-1 win over the Philadelphia Phillies.

Vicente Padilla issued a leadoff walk to Coco Crisp and Vizquel smacked a home run to right field. Broussard, hoping to fill Jim Thome's spot at first base, launched a shot over the left-center field wall three batters later.

A.J. Hinch also drove in two runs, Bill Selby went two for three and Matt Lawton collected two hits and scored a run.

Visiting his former spring training home, Thome did not put the ball in play in three trips to the plate. He walked twice and struck out.

Indians starter Ricardo Rodriguez tossed four scoreless innings to earn the victory. Rodriguez allowed one hit, struck out four and walked one.

David Elder and Danys Baez combined to hold the Phillies scoreless over the final three innings.

Padilla surrendered four runs and five hits, walked two and struck out none over three innings.
