DALLAS, March 6 (UPI) -- Defenseman Philippe Boucher broke a tie 5:36 into the third period Wednesday night as the Dallas Stars topped Chicago, 7-4.
The Stars got goals from seven different players, and returned to the top of the NHL standings.
The game was deadlocked, 4-4, when Pierre Turgeon sent a cross-ice pass to the left faceoff circle for Boucher, who one-timed a shot past sliding goaltender Steve Passmore.
Boucher added an assist on Scott Young's 15th goal and rookie Niko Kapanen capped the scoring for Dallas, which climbed over Ottawa in the race for the Presidents' Trophy, and for home-ice advantage throughout the playoffs.
Rookie Steve Ott, Jere Lehtinen, Mike Modano, and Claude Lemieux also tallied for the Stars, who swept their four-game season series with the Blackhawks.
Sergei Berezin scored twice in a 41-second span of the third period to tie it, but Chicago's losing streak still reached eight games (0-6
2). The Blackhawks remained seven points behind Edmonton for the final Western Conference postseason berth.
