Detroit 3; Tampa Bay 2

DETROIT, March 5 (UPI) -- Pavel Datsyuk set up two more goals Wednesday night as the surging Detroit Red Wings held on a 3-2 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The Red Wings stretched their winning streak to seven straight. One of the assists recorded by Datsyuk set up the game-winning goal by Brendan Shanahan late in the third period.

Detroit has picked up points in each of the last 11 games, and Datsyuk has been one of the major reasons. The 24-year-old Russian has two goals and nine assists during a four-game points streak, and four goals and 15 assists during the 10

0-1 stretch.

He helped start the scoring 4:51 into the first period.

With the Red Wings on the power play, he got the puck to Shanahan, who passed out of the left faceoff circle to the slot.

Defenseman Nicklas Lidstrom leaned into a one-timer, and fired the puck over the right shoulder of goaltender John Grahame.

It was the 14th goal for Lidstrom and put the Red Wings ahead for good.

Defensemen Mathieu Dandenault of Detroit and Dan Boyle of Tampa Bay traded power-play goals before Shanahan gave the Red Wings a 3-1 cushion with 2:08 to go in the final period.

Datsyuk drew two defenders along the left boards, but slid a backhanded pass to Shanahan, who snapped a shot over Grahame's right shoulder for his 26th goal.

It became the game-winner when the Lightning pulled Grahame for an extra attacker, and Vaclav Prospal netted a power-play tally with 35 seconds remaining.

Curtis Joseph stopped 33 shots for his fifth consecutive win, helping Detroit improve to 10-1-0 all-time at home against Tampa Bay.

Vincent Lecavalier set up both goals for the Lightning, who had a four-game winning streak snapped and remained two points behind first-place Washington in the Southeast Division.
