PITTSBURGH, Feb. 22 (UPI) -- Defenseman Shawn Heins scored his first goal of the season Saturday as he finished a give-and-go with Mario Lemieux with 27 seconds left in overtime to give the Pittsburgh Penguins a 2-1 victory over the St. Louis Blues.

Heins put home the game-winner with the Penguins' only shot on goal in the extra period. He scored on a one-timer from the lower left faceoff circle after exchanging passes with Lemieux.

The Blues earned a point but lost for the first time in their last five road games (2-1-2-1) and just second in 11 away games. They have the fifth-best road record in the league at 15-10-5-3.

After a scoreless first period, Rico Fata had given Pittsburgh a 1-0 lead 7:06 into the second with a wrist shot from the high left circle that went under goalie Brent Johnson.

The lead lasted just 93 seconds as Pavol Demitra tied it with his sixth goal in the last eight games. Demitra swiped the puck out of the air for his 24th goal of the season after Keith Tkachuk dumped it in front of the crease from the right side.
