Phoenix 3, St. Louis 3 (OT)

PHOENIX, Dec. 21 (UPI) -- Teppo Numminen's apparent game-winning goal with 2:08 remaining in overtime was waved off Friday night and the Phoenix Coyotes had to settle for a 3-3 tie with the St. Louis Blues.

Phoenix went 3-3-2-1 on the homestand in which it had seven goals nullified.

Seconds after Phoenix's Brent Johnson stopped former Coyote Keith Tkachuk's breakaway attempt for a hat trick, Numminen poked in Tony Amonte's rebound. But the goal was erased after the replay showed that the net was off its moorings before the puck crossed the goal line.

The Coyotes earned a point despite getting outshot, 42-18. Brian Boucher kept Phoenix in the game by making 39 saves, including 15 in the third period, when the Coyotes were outshot, 16-3.

Trailing, 3-2, after 40 minutes, St. Louis tied the contest on Martin Rucinsky's power-play goal just 1:22 into the third, but Boucher blanked the Blues thereafter.

Ladislav Nagy scored twice in the first 5:19 of the second period to stake the Coyotes to a 2-0 lead. A former Coyote, Tkachuk scored a pair of power-play goals in the final eight minutes of the period to pull the Blues within 3-2.
