Dallas 5, Chicago 0

CHICAGO, Dec. 15 (UPI) -- Defenseman Sergei Zubov and Aaron Downey scored in a 94-second span early in the third period Sunday night as the Dallas Stars defeated the Chicago Blackhawks, 5-0, in the opener of a seven-game road trip.

The Stars were up, 2-0, following Pierre Turgeon's eighth goal 5:32 into the second and seemed to gain more momentum when Theo Fleury was called for diving at 7:57.

Fleury was penalized following a scramble with Stars defenseman Derian Hatcher. After Hatcher punched him in the crease, Fleury was sent to the box.

But that was not where it ended as Fleury lost his temper and with 54 seconds remaining in the second, he was called for unsportsmanlike conduct.

With Dallas still on the man advantage, Zubov scored through traffic in front of Chicago goaltender Jocelyn Thibault.

Downey put away the Blackhawks with his first goal of the season and second of his career when he pounced on a loose puck in the right corner.

Defenseman Darryl Sydor and Jere Lehtinen also tallied for the Stars, who limited the Blackhawks to just 17 shots.
