St. Louis 4, Atlanta 0

ST. LOUIS, Dec. 14 (UPI) -- Brent Johnson made 32 saves for his first victory of the season and defenseman Alexander Khavanov had a goal and two assists Saturday night as the St. Louis Blues blanked the Atlanta Thrashers, 4-0.

Johnson, who made his season debut on Thursday night in a 2-2 tie at Nashville, earned his 10th career shutout and first since a 3-0 win against Atlanta on Feb. 12.

Johnson won a career-high 34 games last season, but was sidelined in September with a high ankle sprain and missed the first three months.

Khavanov scored his third goal with 32 seconds left after a scramble left goaltender Byron Dafoe off-balance. Khavanov also picked up assists on Tyson Nash's first goal of the season and Cory Stillman's third-period tally.

Rookie Petr Cajanek made it 2-0 with 13 seconds to play in the first period with a slap shot from the slot after defenseman Al MacInnis and Doug Weight worked the puck behind the net. Weight also assisted on Stillman's goal.

Atlanta has lost six consecutive games and each of its five meetings with St. Louis.
