HOUSTON, Nov. 17 (UPI) -- Mark Brunell passed for two touchdowns Sunday as the Jacksonville Jaguars held on for a 24-21 victory over the Houston Texans.
Three weeks ago, the Jaguars became the Texans' first road victim with a disappointing 21-19 loss at Alltell Stadium.
Brunell helped the Jaguars avoid another upset, throwing touchdown passes of two yards to tight end Kyle Brady and 13 yards to Jimmy Smith, giving Jacksonville a 24-7 lead early in the third quarter.
Rookie David Carr tried to rally the Texans by running for a pair of touchdowns, the second a 14-yarder with 2:03 remaining that cut the deficit to three.
Houston (2-8) got the ball back at its own 18 with 1:32 remaining, but Carr threw two incompletions and was sacked twice.
Stacey Mack added a one-yard touchdown run for Jacksonville (5-5), which returned to the .500 mark while remaining one game back of Indianapolis and Tennessee in the AFC South.
