AUBURN, Ala., Nov. 9 (UPI) -- Jason Campbell and Daniel Cobb each tossed a pair of touchdowns Saturday as Auburn scored the game's first 42 points and coasted to a 52-14 drubbing of Louisiana-Monroe.
Auburn (7-3) tuned up for next week's visit by Southeastern Conference foe Georgia with 503 yards of total offense and a 35-0 halftime lead. Coach Tommy Tuberville improved to 11-0 in non-conference games at home and broke the 30-point mark for the seventh time in as many victories.
Campbell opened the scoring with a 33-yard pass to Jeris McIntyre and Campbell added a 21-yard strike to Ben Obomanu for a 14-0 advantage. Ronnie Brown and Tre Smith added short touchdown runs and Cobb hit tight end Robert Johnson for a five-yard score just before halftime.
The Tigers got the ball to begin the second half and Cobb tossed a five-yard pass to the tailback Smith for a 42-0 advantage. Smith carried nine times for 65 yards and Michael Owens added 51 yards on the ground as Auburn finished with 210 yards rushing.
Campbell completed eight of 10 passes for 184 yards and Cobb was 13 of 20 for 109 yards.
Louisiana-Monroe (2-8) averted the shutout on a one-yard touchdown plunge by Krish Williams in the third quarter. The Indians are 0-4 all-time against the Tigers.
