But the Blackhawks finally broke through on Odelein's goal 3:41 into the second and continued to dominate thereafter. Chicago has won both of its games at the United Center this season after tying Detroit for the best home record in the NHL last season.

The Blackhawks posted their sixth straight victory over Florida, dating to the 1998-99 season.

Florida grabbed the lead when Kristian Huselius, making his season debut, scored the prettiest goal of the night 54 seconds into the second. He cut in from the left side, faked a shot, spun around a defender and slid the puck inside the left goalpost.

But Odelein beat Luongo with a wrist shot through traffic that tucked inside the left post just under three minutes later.

Housley put the Blackhawks ahead when he scored on a wraparound with 8:24 left in the period and Calder made it 3-1 on the power play when he batted the puck into the net with 3:11 remaining.
