Tampa Bay 6, Florida 5

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., June 30 (UPI) -- Brent Abernathy singled in Steve Cox with one out in the bottom of the 12th inning Sunday as the Tampa Bay Devil Rays rallied twice before clinching the season series with a 6-5 victory over the Florida Marlins.

Cox led off the 12th with a single off closer Vladimir Nunez (4-3). After Ben Grieve flied out, Abernathy -- who entered as a pinch runner in the 10th -- extended his hitting streak to 10 games with a single in his lone at bat.

Tampa Bay took four of six meetings with Florida, winning the Citrus Series for the first time in five tries. It also improved to 6-4 in extra innings.

The Marlins squandered leads of 4-0 and 5-4, losing for the sixth time in eight games and falling to 3-7 in extra innings.
