PHILADELPHIA, June 22 (UPI) -- Matt LeCroy blooped a ground-rule double down the right field line to score A.J. Pierzynski with the go-ahead run with two outs in the 11th inning Saturday night, lifting the Minnesota Twins to a 4-1 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies.
Dan Plesac (1-1) started the 11th for the Phillies and retired the first two batters before surrendering singles to Pierzynski and Bobby Kielty.
LeCroy batted for Denny Hocking and nearly provided a jolt, sending a towering shot that narrowly missed the left field foul pole. Three pitches later, LeCroy hit a dunker over the head of first baseman Travis Lee that just bounced fair for a double to give Minnesota a 2-1 lead.
After an intentional walk to Luis Rivas, Ricky Bottalico relieved and Dustan Mohr greeted him with a two-run single.
LaTroy Hawkins (2-0) struck out two in a perfect inning for the win.
Eddie Guardado surrendered a leadoff single and hit a batter with two outs in the bottom of the 11th but picked up his 21st save.
