Chi. Cubs 8, Chi. White Sox 4

CHICAGO, June 14 (UPI) -- Todd Hundley belted a pair of solo homers and Matt Clement worked into the eighth inning Friday, leading the Chicago Cubs to an 8-4 victory over the Chicago White Sox.

Enduring a disappointing season, the Cubs seemed energized by a visit from the crosstown White Sox, jumping to a 5-0 lead after three innings.

Clement (5-4) made sure the lead would stand up, allowing three runs and five hits over 7 2/3 innings. The righthander walked three and struck out four in improving to 4-1 in his last five starts.

Paul Konerko hit a pair of two-run homers for the White Sox, who still lead the all-time series with the Cubs, 13-12.

White Sox starter Jon Garland (6-5) was ineffective after allowing five runs and seven hits in four innings.
